that set my nimble mind a-fright
and keep me up for half the night

Sending shivers down my spine
as I devour line by line
fraught with fearful fascination
lost in my imagination

On a road that‘s long and windy
sure a monster‘s right behind me
In fact, I sense it‘s icy breath
stirring goosebumps on my neck

My cozy room grows cold and colder
it‘s bony claw then clamps my shoulder
and because I have no choice
I listen for it‘s eerie voice...

Turn off the flashlight or you‘ll see
how scary I can truly be.
Don‘t you know that it‘s not right
to read so late on a school night?
